I am so grateful to you for being a part of our
parish community. My hope is that you will find us warm,
welcoming, friendly and hospitable. The primary goal as a Faith
Community is to build a Faith Filled Family. We try to reach out
to all ages and ethnic backgrounds. It is our dream that we can
continue the tradition of our forefathers so that you, too, can pass on
your great heritage to your children and your children’s children.
In order for us to grow as a family, we need your
time, talent and treasure to keep us the vibrant parish that we are.
My aspiration and dream is to reach out to the
unchurched and marginalized by sponsoring many church related
activities and fund raising projects to be able to meet these
needs. I pray that you will become an active participant in
all our parochial activities be they, religious, social, causal,
educational, or recreational.
I realize that one person cannot accomplish
everything on his or her own. A positive and creative attitude
will move us to a genuine loving Spirit. Our growth and progress
will depend on you and your willingness to promote the Spirit of St.
Francis DeSales (the Gentleman Saint) and the love of God among our
membership.
I am proud of you and I am so glad that you have
chosen us as your Parish Family.
Gratefully yours,
Rev.
Albert J. Gondek, OSFS

Our Faith Formation
Program has classes every Sunday from 11:45-12:45. This year will be
having Confirmation and all the students from grades 8-12 are to attend
Confirmation Preparation classes. These classes are
mandatory. The total students enrolled in the formation program
are 72. Classes begin when the parish center is complete for
occupancy.
Our
Christian Catholic Community has the obligation to instruct its
children about Christ and his Church. The Faith Formation Program
takes every step to make this a reality.
The
Catechetical Program of Our Lady of the Rosary Church is a
traditional presentation of Catholic Christian Doctrine, outlined by
the Diocese of Charlotte in conjunction with the apostolic teaching and
traditions of the Roman Catholic Church.
Our
volunteer teachers are qualified and certified through hours of
learning and workshops sponsored by the Pastoral Leadership Council of
the Diocese.
Because
of their leadership role in our Parish, I am proud of them. It
is through their sacrifice and efforts that they help to enhance and
fortify what the parents have already begun in their child(ren).
I
remind parents that it is their duty and obligation to make sure that
their child(ren) receive such instruction provided for them by our
Parochial Programs.
I
applaud and encourage the parents to fulfill their obligations as
being the first teachers of their child(ren) in the faith.

THE
GREATER LEXINGTON AREA MINISTERIAL ASSOCIATION (GLAMA)
|
The purpose of GLAMA
is to establish a common bond and vision that the ministers have in
serving
God’s people. The ministers meet
the second (2) Wednesday of every month (September-May) to share their
hopes and
dreams, success and failures and to corporately discern the needs of
their
people with the help of local professionals to share also with us their
goals so
that we together with them can more effectively serve the community.

Noonan
Homeless Shelter
107 East 1st Avenue
Lexington, NC 27292
Phone: 336-248-5930
General
Guidelines
-
There
are
actually 2 shelters located side by side: the adult homeless
shelter & the family shelter.
-
OLR
church is currently providing the evening meal for both shelters the
first Sunday of the month, September - May.
-
The
shelter provides disposable dishes, silverware, beverage glasses,
napkins, ice and carryout containers (for family shelter).
-
Once
everyone
has been served, the volunteers are free to leave. The entire
process usually takes 1to 1 1/2 hours.
Guidelines
for
the captain & volunteers
-
The
captain should call the shelter Thursday to get a count of clients in
both shelters.
-
He
or
she then phones the volunteers to plan the meal & tell people
how many will be served. Meals do not have to be fancy...Martha Stewart
doesn't live at the shelter! "Comfort foods" are best.
Children love the dessert, but the adults are more concerned with a
hearty meal.
-
Volunteers
provide
the evening meal: main course, vegetable, salad, bread,
dessert, and drinks. The food should be already warm (or cold) and
ready to serve.
-
Volunteers
should
plan to arrive when the adult shelter opens at 6:30 pm.
-
Meals
for
the family shelter are boxed up and taken to the family shelter
while the clients in the adult shelter are checking in.
-
Plates
of
food & beverages for the clients in the adult shelter are then
prepared by volunteers and set out on a counter. The clients are not
permitted to handle the food, so buffet style service is not an option.
-
Many
clients
will request second helpings since this may be the only meal
they have all day.
-
The
kitchen is small, so not everyone who cooks needs to stay and serve. At
least four people should help with the servings.
-
Volunteers
who
would like to be reimbursed for the food purchased can give Father
Al the receipt(s) along with their name and address.
